Throughout his life René de Baaij has worked both within and on systems, technological and social alike. He works in the bridge and the tension between technology, people and work; between leadership and management; between continuity and disruptive change. That is where his craft lies: the place where structure and meaning meet. It is his passion to bring people, teams, management and boards into their strength and to give them the capacity to achieve lasting success and growth. Always with an eye for relevance to clients and market, the interests of shareholders and stakeholders, and the meaning of the organisation for its people and their community.
In the present era he researches and advises, from knowledge and experience, on the impact of AI on people and organisations. He helps executives and management teams connect the possibilities of AI with strategic choices, organisational design and culture, and with questions of meaning, craftsmanship and responsibility. Not as a technological toy, but as an intervention in how we work, decide and make sense of things together.
With a background in business administration, information technology and the social sciences, he combines a business and information perspective with organisational and change expertise. His experience ranges from national to international organisations, on the boundary between private and public questions. He has worked with a wide variety of organisations and sectors in the Netherlands and Europe, and in developing countries in Asia and Africa, from multinational corporations to small specialist organisations.
As a trusted advisor and expert in change and organisational development, culture and leadership, and as a personal coach trained in personal growth through analytical psychology, he makes a direct contribution to the development of people and professionals.
As an advisor and interventionist René stays close to practice. He guides boards and teams through strategic questions, organises meaningful conversations and makes tension workable. Data becomes dialogue, decision-making becomes a shared fabric, and change gains discipline without stifling the human.
His natural focus on lasting connection and meaningful relationships gives him the ability to build long-term relationships of trust. Loyalty and commitment are the core values that guide his work. As a reflective practitioner he seeks relevant wisdom: moments of stillness that sharpen strength, courage and moral compass.
Outside his professional life René holds many interests, among them walking, reading thrillers, going to the cinema, golf, and enjoying art and culture.
